Energy Healing Revealed on Dr.Oz

Energy Healing - Can this
alternative treatment help?

I recently tuned in to see Dr. Mehmet Oz, and I found it pretty interesting!...

http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/secrets-reconnective-healing

Some energy healing gets a little out there for me but just like Dr. oz says, keep an open mind. You know if it works for someone and doesn't harm anyone or themselves, what's the big deal.

They also interviewed an osteopath who saw healing results with his son who has cerebral palsy. By the way, his wife is a medical doctor too. But of course they had an MD on who didn't believe it.

Like I said if it doesn't harm anyone, who cares, good for them with their son!

Anyway, just thought it was interesting.

Chronic Pain Sufferers – be careful of drug dependency with medications

Chronic Pain can be something that affects our activities of daily living. Too many times patients will go to their primary care doctor looking for a quick fix: medications.

Where does chronic pain stem from? It can stem from conditions such as a pinched nerve, arthritis, a herniated disc, headaches or even muscle aches.

Recently in the news, the The American Society of Anesthesiologists issued a warning stating that patients need to be careful about taking pain medications for chronic conditions. Specifically: Opoid pain medications- which are highly addictive. We read about this with celebrities all the time, but what about real life?

There are a lot of side effects that can happen with using opoid pain medications for long term. Using these pain medications affects us the spinal nerve levels- making the drug more potent which leads to addiction for the pain medication.

Alternative treatment options should be researched and opted for when available. Other treatments may include medical management, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy and psychological therapy, to other interventional therapies and other alternative medical treatments.

I have Pain and Numbness in my leg, Could It Be My Back?

Leg pain can often come from our backs. The term sciatica has become common because the symptoms are seen quite often.

You see, the nerve roots exit out of the spine and branch into more and more smaller and smaller nerves.

So these nerve roots are a bundle of nerves. Nerves with a various function and controls. Some nerves may cause pain, some may only create the symptom of numbness, etc.

In your back you may have pressure on a nerve that solely communicate down the leg. You may have however one that has a lot of innervation to muscles of the lower back. Hence, this person may have back pain as well.

Review of the slimrest low back cushion: A Pillow for the Lower Back

One of the products that I recommend in my Glastonbury Chiropractic office is the Slimrest Back Support. This low back cushion like a pillow for the low back. It is great for the car or even your desk chair. It is great for patients who do a lot of driving during the day or work for long periods at their desk job sitting. Using a cushion can reduce fatigue in the lower back, and you can stand up after a long time sitting and not have pain.

I recommend this low back cushion for two main reasons. First it promotes correct posture in the low back region. Second it reduces lower back pain. By correctly aligning the lumbar spine,  less pressure is placed on the lumbar bones and discs.
